My experience working in the mental health sector, health promotion, managing diverse teams in highly pressured environments, working with employers to facilitate diversification of workforce in terms of mental health and neurodiversity as well as running my own businesses has fostered a critical understanding of the links between employee (and employer!) well-being, culture, behavioural health and safety and productivity.

Advocating and understanding the need for workforce wellbeing as not simply a ‘nice-to-have’, but a strategic imperative for the sustainability, resilience and growth of any business is core to my approach and here’s a few reasons why :

Absenteeism in the UK is at an all-time high - up by a third since the pandemic.

Mental health is the biggest causes of long term absence from work. In fact, approx. 3 out of every four of these absentees take time of work each year because of stress / mental health issues.

‘Presenteeism’ costs the UK economy undefined £££ annually. This is those people work but ‘struggling’ with their well – being. Factors to consider here are less discretionary effort, poorer quality decision making, less productivity AND creativity, worse quality dialogue, more irritability, less empathy and more accidents and mistakes – all cost money!
